Is eBay Pushing Sellers to Offer 1 Day Handling!!

Last Updated on October 10, 2019 by

In this blog, we will discuss about the recent update of eBay with 1 Day Prefilled Handling Time.

As of late, a few sellers got stunned when they heard that eBay is pushing them into 1-day to taking care of handling time for the new listings. In an email, eBay clarified that the pre-filled handling will be 1-day, sellers still had the choice of changing their dealing with handling time.

Email Received from eBay:

Hello,

In September 2019, eBay will update the pre-filled value in the handling time field in the eBay listing flows to 1 day. Currently, eBay listing flows are pre-filled with 2 or 3 days.

The 1-day handling time change will be an optional default when you create new listings. You can still select the handling time that works best for you at any time, and we will not change handling times in your existing listings.

We recommend you show a handling time of 1 day or less in your listings as delivery speed is an increasingly important factor in buyers’ purchase decisions, and because you are already shipping most of your shipments in 1 day or less. By reducing your handling time, your listings will be more appealing to buyers looking for a faster delivery.

To allow an opportunity to adjust to a 1-day handling time, we will protect your account from late shipments that are a result of the update. Through January 1, 2020, we will remove defects for a late shipment that are a result of the update. These protections will apply to transactions for listings on eBay.com where a 1 day handling time is stated. Defects will be automatically removed within 1-2 weeks of being received.

Real Story:

So, from this September, eBay will renovate the pre-filled value in the Handling time field to 1 day.

But it doesn’t mean that you need to ship your order within 1 day. eBay said that they will change the pre-filled value for handing time to 1 day. eBay also said that this 1-day pre filled handling time will be by default. If anyone wants, that seller can change it. But if anyone overlook the pre-filled 1-day handling and list the item. Then he/she might get into trouble in the future. eBay clearly said on their Email, “The 1-day handling time change will be an optional default when you create new listings. You can still select the handling time that works best for you at any time, and we will not change handling times in your existing listings.”

Why 1-day Handling:

eBay thought that 1 day or less handling time is a very important and crucial factor in buyers’ purchase decisions. So reducing the handling time, your listings will be more appealing to buyers as it would be a faster delivery.

Pros and Cons:

This will be a great opportunity for the sellers. If anyone can maintain the 1-day handling, his listing will be very alluring to a buyer. On the other hand, eBay will also provide him so many opportunities. eBay said that “To allow an opportunity to adjust to a 1-day handling time, we will protect your account from late shipments that are a result of the update. Through January 1, 2020, we will remove defects for a late shipment that are a result of the update. These protections will apply to transactions for listings on eBay.com where a 1 day handling time is stated. Defects will be automatically removed within 1-2 weeks of being received.” So due to 1-day handling, if your account gets any defect for late shipment, eBay will take care of those defects. They will remove the defects as soon as they can.

Again, for some sellers, it will be very hard to maintain 1-day handling. So those sellers might get some trouble.

After all, You don’t need to be worried as a seller for this update. This update will get some positive vibes for both seller and buyer. But some people spreading that eBay pushing sellers to 1-day handling. But for this update nothing like that. If you can afford you can list your items with the default 1day handling. If you don’t, you have have the other option. So don’t panic.
