Promotion or Discount is one of the major tools used to gain some quick revenue and exposure. It is a marketing communication technique used for a pre-set limited time to increase consumer demand, encourage sales or to improve product visibility.
There are various types of promotions available in the eBay marketplace.
Today…we will show you how to run percentage off promotions on eBay.
Run Percentage Off Promotions on ebay
Firstly, we need to go to the eBay Seller Portal. There you have to login first. After logging in, you will get the following view. To go to your eBay Seller Hub, you need to click “Sell” option.
After clicking “Sell” option ebay Seller Hub will appear. In the ebay Seller Hub you can monitor & control all of your ebay account. For creating a Percentage Off Promotions or Discounts in ebay go to the “Marketing” section & select “Promotions”
In the Manage promotions window, you can see all of your running promotion statuses. Also, here you can edit your running promotions or you can end promotions easily. To create a new promotion click on the “Create a promotion” drop-down box and select“Sale event + markdown” option.
After clicking “Sale event + markdown” option you will directly go to the create a sale event page. Here you can find there are 3 stages
- Set discount.
- Select items.
- Review & launch.
To finalize a Percentage Off Promotions or Discounts promotion you have to finish all the stages.
In the Set discount stage choose your discount. There are 2 types of discounts
- Percentage (%) Off
- Dollar Off
By percentage off you can give from 11% to 80% off discounts per item. e.g. Save up to 50% on designer accessories or Save 20% off designer handbags.
By Dollar Off you can give from 5$ to 15000$ off per item e.g. Save $25 off all designer handbags.
( ** Note: For this content, we will choose percentage off discount. You can choose any of them ** )
If you want to offer free shipping for all items, you have to mark this checkbox. Otherwise, you can leave this box. Giving free shipping is a great way to attract more customers.
Basically, by marking this checkbox your promoted items will show up as “Free Shipping”
After giving all the necessary information, click Select items button for completing stage 1.
In the stage 2 it’s all about choosing your desired items that you want to run promotions for. You can select items in 2 ways
- Select items- It means choosing items from your inventory manually
- Create rules using categories – Set rules using categories or filters which will determine which items will have the promotion.
(**Note: For this article, we will choose Select items. You can choose whatever you want. If you want to enter specific SKUs or item IDs for promotion you can click the “Advance” option.**)
You need to click “Select items” button
Here you will need to select your items. You can find your products in “Items found” section or you can search your items by items title in the search option. After selecting your items please Click “Confirm selections” button for continuing further process.
Once you confirm selection, eBay will review your promoted items before starting the promotion. Here you can add multiple items again by clicking “Add more items” button. The percentage off rate will be the same for different items. TO complete Stage 2 you have to click “Save and review” button.
After clicking “Save and review”, we have entered Stage 3. This stage you can also call declare stage where you will announce your promotions date. For your better understanding, please give a name to your promotion in the “Sale event name” box.
In the “Date range” sectionchoose your desired date for your promotions durations. This is a very important section. If you want to to start your promotions right away, then you can select “Start now”.
After declaring date range go to the “Sale event description” box. Basically, anything you write here will be showing in Products promotions pages which will attract the customers for buying this product. For example Reduced, Clearance, Limited offer etc….etc.
After completing all the required informations in the Stage 3, click “Launch” button to finish the whole process. If you want to run your promotion later you can click “ Save for Later” button.
Return to the Manage promotions view. So that you can see your promotions activity.
If you want to increase your business growth on eBay, promotions will be one of the most powerful tools. A good promotion not only gives you visibility but can also influence buyers buying decisions. You can get a lot of new customers and turn them into a loyal base. It can convince buyers to buy more giving you a good amount of revenue.
